Overview

Originally established as Liz’s Homecare in 1989, Elizabeth Baker began providing support to a small group of clients in Solihull. With the support of family members, her client base quickly grew, and she soon needed to employ staff to meet demand. As the business was no longer a sole operation, the decision was made to rename it Knightsbridge Care Services, inspired by the road Liz lived on in Solihull.

In 1992, Mrs Kay Stride joined Knightsbridge Care Services. With an extensive background in Health and Social Care, she quickly progressed within the company and became the registered Care Manager in 2005, following new legal requirements.

In January 2015, Knightsbridge Care Services became a limited company, with Elizabeth Baker and Kay Stride as directors, while maintaining its strong family-run values. Liz Baker retired in 2018 but remains the majority shareholder.

Today, we continue to provide high-quality care services, including personal care, emotional support, and assistance with daily living skills. Our services support older adults, individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, challenging behaviour, and physical disabilities. Care is provided either in service users’ homes or, subject to availability, within our own supported living accommodation, all located in Solihull and South Birmingham.

Although we are a small company with just over 100 service users, this allows us to offer a personal approach. We take pride in the fact that even our management team, based in the office, have first-hand experience of visiting service users—ensuring they are more than just a voice on the telephone.

Many of our service users have been with us for years, enabling us to build strong, lasting relationships not only with them but also with their families. We are proud to have a workforce of trained, dedicated, and compassionate staff, who continue to provide outstanding care despite the challenges we face on a daily basis.
